Today we open applications for the 2020 Sydney International Piano Competition which will be held 8 – 25 July.
The Competition is regarded as one of the most challenging and inspiring piano competitions in the world and we hope that the repertoire innovations for 2020 will add new levels of both challenge and enjoyment. We also have some wonderful chamber musicians lined up, along with a panel of highly esteemed jurors, mainly performers themselves, but with the odd composer or manager thrown in for good measure! Announcements will be made over the second half of 2018, so continue to check the website and sign-up to our newsletter to be among the first to hear.
Once again, young pianists from around the globe will vie for one of the 32 coveted places in the Preliminaries. The Sydney International Piano Competition is one of the few in the world to cover all costs for each competitor: flights, accommodation and a travel allowance. And of course, the hospitality and support in Sydney itself is second to none.
The 32 hopeful pianists will compete for over AUD$200,000 in cash prizes along with Australian and international recitals, orchestral and festival engagements, recording contracts and career mentoring. Applications are now open for pianists of all nationalities who will be 18 to 32 years of age at the time of the Competition.
Full details of the rules and regulations can be found on our website along with how to apply.
We hope to see you in Sydney 2020.
