Timothy began learning the piano at age 5 with his mother Nancy Chiang, and the violin age 9 with Brian Blake. In 2000, he was awarded a music and academic scholarship to Scotch College (Melbourne) and continued piano studies with Mikhail Solovei. In 2002 he continued the violin with Leonid Zeyde. Whilst at Scotch College, Timothy obtained the LMusA (Piano), LRSM (Piano), LMusA (Violin), and performed Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No1 at Melba Hall, and Liszt’s Piano Concerto No1 at Hamer Hall. He was also the Leader of their Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra in 2005.

In 2013, Timothy was awarded the Fellowship of Trinity College London and was a finalist in the Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Award. In 2014, he was accepted into the 2nd Australian International Chopin Piano Competition, and was also a performer for the 3MBS ‘The Talent’ Series 2. He currently studies with Mikhail Solovei.
