Biography

Sylvia Jiang is a nineteen year old pianist who is currently a sophomore studying at The Juilliard School with Mr. Robert McDonald. She began her piano studies at the age of four with Mr Qu Yong, and was under his tutelage until she began her studies at Juilliard in 2014. Over the years, she has won numerous top prizes at national and international level competitions including the Wallace National Piano Competition, the Lev Vlassenko, Kerikeri, and Pusaka International Piano Competitions.
Sylvia is an avid performer having given solo recitals in New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, and the United States. She has performed with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Nicholas Braithwaite and the Aotea Youth Symphony. Other recent solo performances have taken place at the Banff Center, The Morgan Library in New York City, The Juilliard School’s Morse and Paul Halls, and the Sydney Steinway House.
