James Dekleva was born in country Victoria in 1994. Three years later, he and his family moved to Western Australia. At the age of 5, James began taking piano lessons , and has won prizes in various competitions across Kalgoorlie and Perth since. In October 2014, James was asked to participate in the Beethoven Piano Sonata Marathon at Government House Ballroom ( Perth ) where he performed Beethoven's 16th Piano Sonata. In March 2015, James gave a solo recital at the University of Western Australia as part of their Lunchtime Concert series. His 2016 highlights include another UWA Lunchtime recital and an evening recital at UWA. He has also participated in masterclasses with pianists Bart van Oort, Bernadette Harvey, and Connie Shih. James is currently studying towards a Bachelor of Music (specializing in piano performance) at the University of Western Australia under the guidance of Jana Kovar.
