Biography

Born in Sydney in 1996, Nicholas Kennedy gave his first paid public performance at age seven. He has studied piano with Clemens Leske, Gerard Willems and Rita Reichman; cello with Julian Smiles and Susan Blake and chamber music with John Harding. He was an inaugural member of the prestigious Rising Stars program at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where he is now studying a Bachelor of Music (Performance) on full scholarship.
In 2014, Nicholas was selected as a finalist in the NSW Secondary Schools’ Concerto Competition, performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Kuring-Gai Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2015, he was nominated as a finalist in the Sydney Conservatorium’s Concerto Competition, and a semi-finalist in the IX Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, in which he was also awarded the prize for Best Performance of a Prelude and Fugue.
Nicholas is a founding member of the Hutcheson Piano Trio.
