Biography

Praised for "her calm technical control, her immediate sense of balance", as well as "extraordinary vigour, flawless musicality" (Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, april 2013), French pianist Mathilde Handelsman has performed in several world-wide venues, including Pianofest in the Hamptons (USA), Gijon International Piano Festival (Spain), and Ferrara International Music Festival (Italy).
Born in Paris to a family of artists and musicians, Mathilde started the piano at age four. She studied ten years with French master Jean Martin, a former pupil of Yves Nat. Mathilde received a Bachelor and Masters degrees "magna cum laude" at the Conservatory of Strasbourg, studying with Laurent Cabasso. She has participated in masterclasses with distinguished professors, such as Andrei Gavrilov, Boris Berman, Robert McDonald, Jacques Rouvier and Christopher Elton.
She is currently pursuing a Performer Diploma, and teaching as Assistant Instructor of PIano, at the Jacobs school of music of Indiana University - Bloomington, under Edmund Battersby.
