Biography

Margaret Kong is currently studying at Melbourne Conservatorium where she is a student of Glenn Riddle. At age 13, Margaret completed her L.Mus.A. Her numerous awards include the Zelman Symphony Orchestra Concerto, the Dorothy Glover, the Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial, and the 3MBS Young Performer of the Year Award and Audience Prize. Margaret was chosen as a finalist for the Fine Music National Young Performer of the Year in Sydney. She was awarded a ‘Best Modern Performance’ Prize at the 2011 Indonesia Pusaka International Piano Competition. In 2012 Margaret performed Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto with the Zelman Symphony before a capacity audience at BMW Edge Auditorium to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Federation Square. In 2013, she was invited to take part in a live broadcast of the 3MBS Beethoven Marathon. Most recently, Margaret won 5th place at the 4th Thailand International Piano Competition in 2015.
