BiographyThe 21-year-old Chinese pianist Junhui Chen has already appeared as a soloist with orchestras across the world including Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Rapides Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic Orchestra, Xiamen Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Music Middle School Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Ashdod Symphony Orchestra. The conductors he has played with include Neil Varon, Shucheng Shi, Renchang Fu and Danwen Wei.
Alongside with Concerto performances he gave with orchestras，Junhui is also a winner of many national and international competitions. He was a finalist in the first Wenhua National Piano Competition (junior group) in 2009, and comes to the 4th prize in first Concerto Competition of Shanghai Music Middle School in 2010. In 2011, he won the 2nd prize in the 4th Louisiana International Piano Competition (Adult group) as the youngest participant. Followed by the 2nd prize and the Best master class performance prize and 4 years of full scholarship given by Eastman School of Music in the 13th Eastman Young Artist International Piano Competition in 2012.
Mr.Chen also performed in Music summer festivals such as Orford Music Festival and Perugia Piano Festival. He has been praised by many pianists such as Dang Thai Son, Gary Graffman, Jerome Lowenthal, and Anton Kuerti.
Born in Fuzhou, Fujian. Junhui got into Shanghai Music Middle School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory at age 10. He studied with Professor Shuang Xiao and Professor Zhengxiao Que and studied with Professor Zhe Tang later on. In 2013, Junhui got into The Juilliard School, where he studied with Professor Robert McDonald. In 2015, Junhui got into The Curtis Institute of Music and continuing his study with Professor Robert McDonald.
