Biography

Jiyoung Kim, born in Seoul, a nineteen year old pianist, attends the Seoul National University. She has won the prizes in many of Korea's most esteemed musical competitions, including the Dong-A Music Competition, the Ewha & Kyunghyang Music Competition, Bechstein-Samick Piano Competition. Since Jiyoung's first debut recital at the age of six, she has maintained an active performance schedule on various stages including but not limited to the Kumho Art Hall, Yamaha Artist Hall and Seoul Arts Center. Her performances accompanied by orchestra include the Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Kunpo Prime Philharmonic Orchestra and State symphony Orchestra `Novaya Rossiya' ; and her first overseas appearance was at the Ettlingen International Competition for Young Pianists in Germany in 2010. She was invited to the Sendai International music competition as the youngest participant at the age of 16. She won the special prize at the 7th International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, Swiss.
