Biography

Fanya Lin was born in Taipei, Taiwan. She began formal piano study at age four, and even in her youth dreamed of becoming a concert pianist. Fanya has been selected as a top prizewinner in piano competitions such as Seattle International Piano Competition, New York International Piano Competition, and Beethoven Club International Piano Competition. Her American orchestral appearances include Savannah Philharmonic, Utah Symphony, Coeur d’Alene Symphony Orchestra, Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra, and Aurora Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, Fanya enrolled at Weber State University to study with Dr. Yu-Jane Yang. Fanya graduated from The Juilliard School as a Master’s Student in 2015, studying with professor Hung-Kuan Chen and professor Jerome Lowenthal. Currently, She is a Doctoral student at University of Minnesota under the guidance of Distinguished McKnight Professor Lydia Artymiw. Fanya was described as a “striking interpreter” who gives a “committed and heartfelt performance.” –Musical America, New York Times
