Alexander Kostritsa was born in Moscow to the musical family and started his piano lessons in the age of six. Two years later he made a concert tour to Japan, which became a starting point of his performance career. During his early studies Alexander became a prizewinner of youth competitions “European Education” (Russia, 1995, 1st prize), “Artobolevskaya” (Russia, 1996, 2nd prize), and “Glinka” (Russia, 1998, 2nd prize). Alexander continued his education in the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where he studied with a famous composer-pianist Mikhail Petukhov. He became a prizewinner of international competitions “Premio Rovere d’Oro” (Italy, 2007, 1st prize), “Slavic Music Festival” (Ukraine, 2007, Laureate Diploma), and “Paul Badura-Skoda” (Spain, 2010, finalist). In 2011 Alexander came to Cleveland to pursue his Doctor's degree in the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Antonio Pompa-Baldi.
