Praised by the New York Times as a pianist with "assurance and vitality," 24-year-old Alan Woo has already acquired considerable performance experience since starting the piano at age four. Most recently, he won Juilliard’s 2014 Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. He made his Lincoln Center debut at Alice Tully Hall in December 2010, performing with the Juilliard Orchestra under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. Other recent performances include engagements throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Netherlands, and solo appearances with conductors Miguel Harth-Bedoya and Tito Muñoz. An avid chamber musician, Mr. Woo has made appearances at La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest and Juilliard's ChamberFest. Born in Arlington, Virginia, Mr. Woo completed his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Juilliard School as a student of Robert McDonald, and is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Peabody Institute under the guidance of Yong Hi Moon.
