  Biography

Ming Xie began his musical training when he was six years old. He was enrolled at the Affiliated Middle School of Sichuan Conservatory of Music in Chengdu, where he studied with Professor Hanguo Yang. In 2011, he was accepted by the Pre-College Division at The Juilliard School where he worked with Matti Raekallio. Ming is currently studying at The Juilliard School with Emanuel Ax and Sergei Babayan. Ming is a recipient of Burle Scholarship, Olga Samaroff Scholarship as well as Vladimir Horowitz Scholarship.

Ming has performed at the Auditori Enric Granados and Petite Palau at Palau de la Música Catalana in Spain, Steinway Hall, Alice Tully Hall and Peter Jay Sharp Theatre at the Lincoln Center, New York, Reinberger Chamber Hall at Severance Hall in Cleveland and Beijing Concert Hall and Jiaozi Grand Theatre in China.

As a guest artist and festival participant, Ming was invited by the Schimmel Summer Piano Academy in Germany in 2012; the Eppan Piano Academy in 2014; and the 2016 Mendelssohn Piano Academy in Leipzig. Highlights of his 2016/2017 season will include recitals in New York, Bogotá, Auckland, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Panama City and Brussels.

Ming was the winner the Rex Hobcroft People’s Choice, Most Promising Competitor and Alink-Agerich Foundation Awards at the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition. He also won the Gold Medal, Audience Prize and Ginastera Prize at 2016 Panama International Piano Competition. Other awards include Fourth Prize at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition (2016), Second Prizes at the Valsesia Musica International Piano Competition (2013), TOYAMA International Youth Piano Competition (2009) and at the Gulangyu National Piano Competition (2006) and First Prize at the Lee International Piano Competition (2013).
